NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police positively identified the person killed Friday evening on Hayes Street and charged a man in relation to his murder.
On October 27, 2017 shortly after 6:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of Hayes Street for a gunshot disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located Nicholas Ackies (19) of Richmond suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Norfolk Fire-Rescue medics pronounced Ackies dead on scene.
Ackies remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for determination of exact cause of death.
During the course of the preliminary investigation, detectives positively identified Jaquan Anderson (22) as the suspect. Anderson was taken into police custody without incident and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Anderson, last known to reside in the 800 block of Hayes Street, remains incarcerated without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
