1. Is preregistration the same thing as scheduling a vaccine appointment?

Preregistration does not schedule you for an appointment. Preregistration process puts you on a vaccine appointment waitlist. Vaccine supply is limited.  A health care professional will contact you to schedule an appointment. This process can take four to eight weeks.

2. I just preregistered, why hasn't anyone contacted me?

Priority is given to individuals in phases 1a and 1b.  Due to limited vaccine supply, it may take 4 to 8 weeks for a health care professional to contact you to schedule an appointment. 

3. I do not have an email, should I still complete the online form?

Yes. Please make sure you have a good working phone number so a health care professional can call you at a later date to schedule a vaccine appointment.

4. When I preregister, does that confirm my vaccine dose?

No. Preregistration is not an appointment. You will be contacted at a later date with information on how to schedule your vaccination appointment.

5. I'm a business owner. How can I assist my employees with preregistration?

Norfolk Health Department staff are reaching out directly to employers whose businesses are identified as essential according to the VDH Phase 1b guidelines. Health Department staff are working with these employers to facilitate the preregistration of their employees for COVID vaccinations.

Information on these essential Phase 1b business groups can be found at https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine/#phase1b. This is a helpful resource for employers to determine where they fall within the overall vaccination framework.

Employers identified as Phase 1b essential per the above guidance can also reach out directly to the health department to begin the preregistration process for their employees. 6. How do I remove myself from the pre-registration list if I no longer need to be on it?

If you receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Virginia, you will be automatically removed from the pre-registration list. If you receive the vaccine outside of Virginia or wish to be removed from the pre-registration list for any other reason, please call the Vaccination Call Center at 1-877-VAX-INVA (1-877-829-4682) to remove you from the VDH list.

7. I recently got an email from someone NOT from the health department telling me that, for a fee, I could get an early appointment to get COVID-19 vaccine. Is this a scam?

There is no charge to any U.S. resident for COVID-19 vaccine or for the vaccination appointment itself. The Virginia Attorney General has recently provided a warning and detailed advice for avoiding COVID-19 vaccine scams or other COVID-19 scams here.
