Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on June 6, 2015, Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Terminal Boulevard and Hampton Boulevard for a traffic accident. Upon arrival, they discovered a 12-year-old boy had opened the rear door of the vehicle he was traveling in and exited the car while it was still moving. The boy sustained significant injuries from the jump and was transported to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD), where he is currently being evaluated.
The Norfolk Police Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, which is still ongoing. One westbound lane of Terminal Boulevard near the intersection of Hampton Boulevard is presently closed. Norfolk Police ask motorists to avoid the area, if possible. At this time, there is no further information available for release.
