Ladies and Gents,
Please see the latest NWS briefing on Idalia as well as the most current tide forecast.
Bottom line:
The current track continues to benefit our community, but increased winds and coastal flooding are still to be anticipated arriving in Norfolk early Thursday morning.
- Current reports have wind gusts reaching upward of 40-45mph with about an inch of rainfall.
- More problematic at times will be the coastal flooding. While not yet to the point where city garages would be opened (5.5’), ponding will occur at the usual roads, intersections, and low-lying areas during the 10 am and 10 pm high tides Thursday and again Friday morning at 11 am. Any help raising awareness and otherwise encouraging the use of the Waze app to navigate around flooded roadways would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
