Posted on October 2, 2022 at 6:19 PM by Daniel Hudson

Team –

Please see the latest from the National Weather Service as well as the slides from our 5:30 pm internal EOC Briefing

Primary updates for your situational awareness:

City Manager Dr. Filer has declared a Local Emergency as of 5:30 pm today.

The following City Parking Garages are open 5:30 pm this evening through 8 am Wednesday: York Street, Bank Street, and Charlotte as well as the Brambleton Lot.

Old Dominion University is also opening their campus garages to our Norfolk residents!!

We will have a partial EOC activation overnight and through tomorrow.  Emergency Management staff will monitor developments overnight in the 911 Center and then report to the actual EOC at 8 am.  While coordination among the Team will remain virtual for the most part, should communications be disrupted due to power outages, department representatives are expected to report and work from the EOC.

City Offices as well as Norfolk Public Schools will be CLOSED Monday.

Please continue to send any reports or issues or resource needs to EOC-Plans@norfolk.gov

Thank you and be safe!

Director, Emergency Preparedness and Response
