Team Norfolk - Snow Forecast update (1/28/2022 at 8:45 am)

Posted on January 28, 2022 at 8:53 AM by Daniel Hudson

Team Norfolk,

Please see this morning's 8 am brief from the NWS where the forecast is showing 3-4” of snow for Norfolk.  The Hourly Graph shows rain to arrive this afternoon / evening until it changes to snow around 10 pm.  Snow should continue to fall through the morning hours.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Norfolk from 10 pm tonight until tomorrow at 4 pm.

Winds should also start picking up overnight tonight with gusts peaking around 40mph around 7 am to noon tomorrow.  There is an 11 am call with Dominion to discuss their preparations for any potential power outages.

Finally, the threat for minor coastal flooding still exists for Saturday morning as that high tide is approaching the 5’ mark.

Other than the 11 am Dominion call, we have a VDEM / NWS call at 1 pm and our Policy Call at 3:30 pm.

More to come.

Thank you!

Jim Redick, Director

Norfolk Emergency Preparedness and Response
