Team Norfolk - Snow Forecast update

Posted on January 19, 2022 at 10:50 AM by Daniel Hudson

Team Norfolk,

Please find below some additional details from the National Weather Service regarding winter weather for this Thursday and Friday.

Most significantly, the total snowfall we’re expecting is currently around 5.6”.  The onset graph shows the arrival of this second wave to arrive around 1 pm Friday.

Overall, however, the Hourly Graph calls for rain tomorrow (Thursday) evening with a transition to snow at night.  Some degree of light snowfall until that second wave Friday afternoon through Saturday.

The temps may play a role as they will remain below freezing throughout the day/night Friday, and the sun, a significant partner in helping the snow melt, will be hidden behind clouds most of the time.

The EOC will be participating on a call with VDEM / NWS this afternoon at 3 pm, followed by a Policy Call at 3:30 pm.  Stand by for an update soon thereafter.  In the meantime, an electronic version of our Winter Storm Plan is available online here.

Thanks!
