Team Norfolk - Snow Forecast January 20, 2022

Posted on January 18, 2022 at 12:29 PM by Daniel Hudson

Team Norfolk,

This report is meant to provide you with the latest we received from the National Weather Service regarding the winter weather expected later this week.

At present, the first chance of any inclement weather associated with the arctic front is forecasted to arrive Thursday.  Per the Hourly Graph for Thursday, we should begin seeing rain during the morning hours, elevated wind gusts in the afternoon, then a transition to snow for the evening.  Total snow for Norfolk is expected to be less than 1”.

There will be a second system which is currently too far out to forecast with any certainty; however, the NWS anticipates snow falling late Friday into Saturday which could be upward of 3”. Temperatures are also expected to remain at or below freezing.  We will continue to monitor and keep you posted.  In the meantime, please send any questions or concerns to EOC-Plans@norfolk.gov

Thanks!

Jim Redick, Director
