Water Street Open Space: Construction Progress

Construction has started on Water Street Open Space! 

The interim use space is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2021.  

This collaborative effort among City departments will yield a new view for visitors and residents as they visit the Harbor Park area.

Water Street Open Space July 2021 Construction

City funds in addition to a $500,000 grant from the Virginia Brownfields Restoration and Economic Redevelopment Assistance Fund and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, and funding from the Environmental Protection Agency covers the cost of the $1 million project and provides funding for the environmental analysis, design and construction. The project will feature an open space design, stormwater amenities, environmental capping of the site, and new native plantings.
