This morning the Virginia Department of Health reports 616,509 total confirmed, and probable cases of COVID-19 and 10,219 total deaths related to the virus in the Commonwealth.
The seven-day positivity rate, PCR only, for the Commonwealth is 5.8%.
Norfolk is credited with 16,059 total cases and 235 deaths with an 9.4% seven-day positivity rate, PCR only.
According to the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, 1,043 residents in Virginia are currently hospitalized due to the virus. Over 51,155 confirmed COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized and discharged.
VDH reports that 3,590,553 people in Virginia have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine. Over 1,278,673 people have been fully vaccinated.
The Commonwealth has received 3,927,185 doses of vaccine and are administering just over 59,538 doses a day.
To date in Norfolk, 52,409 people have received the vaccine and 18,483 people are fully vaccinated.

Vaccine Clinic Update: We are excited to announce that the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has chosen Norfolk to open a Type II COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Military Circle Mall. The clinic will official open this Wednesday, March 31, and will have the capacity to vaccinate 3,000 people per day. The clinic will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for eight weeks.
The clinic will be focused on a regional outreach for the vaccine; however, the clinic is not open for walk-ins. The clinic will only be for appointments only. The first step to getting a shot is pre-registering. To pre-register for a vaccine, go to Vaccinate.Virginia.Gov or calling 1-877-VAX-IN VA (1-877-829-4682).
Governor Ralph Northam Increases Capacity Limits for Indoor and Outdoor Gatherings and Some Entertainment Venues.
Last week, Governor Northam announced that as COVID-19 vaccinations continue to rise in Virginia, so he decided that certain sports and entertainment venues may begin to operate with additional capacity and indoor and outdoor gathering limits will increase starting Thursday, April 1.
Key changes in the Fourth Amended Executive Order Seventy-Two include:
- Social gatherings: The maximum number of individuals permitted in a social gathering will increase to 50 people for indoor settings and 100 people for outdoor settings. Social gatherings are currently limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
- Entertainment venues: All indoor and outdoor entertainment and public amusement venues must continue to operate at 30 percent capacity. Indoor venues must operate at 30 percent capacity or with a maximum of 500 people, an increase from the current cap of 250 people. Outdoor venues must operate at 30 percent capacity, with no specific cap on the number of attendees. These venues were previously limited to 30 percent capacity or up to 1,000 attendees, whichever was fewer.
- Recreational sporting events: The number of spectators allowed at recreational sporting events will increase from 25 to 100 people per field or 30 percent capacity, whichever is less for indoor settings, and from 250 to 500 people per field or 30 percent capacity, whichever is less for outdoor settings.
- In-person graduation and commencement events: Last week, Governor Northam issued preliminary guidance on safe in-person graduations and commencements, which included a cap of 5,000 people or 30 percent of the venue capacity for outdoor events, whichever is less. Events held indoors may have up to 500 people, or 30 percent of the venue capacity, whichever is less. Attendees must wear masks and follow other guidelines and safety protocols to ensure proper distancing.

Lastly, it looks like we are going to see some spring like temps for the beginning of the week, but a front will move in on Wednesday and bring some showers and colder temperatures.
The high for today will be near 60 and Tuesday will be a bit warmer with highs in the upper 60s.
Wednesday will be much warmer, with highs in the mid-70s; however, a front will move in and could possibly bring some showers in the afternoon, with chances of some of those showers developing into thunderstorms.
Highs for Thursday will be in the mid-50s and Friday temps will be a bit cooler, hovering around 50 degrees.
The weekend is looking great; Saturday will be around 60 degrees and Sunday will be close to 70.
