Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here is the latest regarding this week’s inclement weather.
Per the National Weather Service’s hourly graph, we should see rain this evening through noon tomorrow (Tuesday). From noon tomorrow until around 2am Wednesday there is a 54% chance of rain, but then increases back up to 70% at 2am through 7pm Wednesday. Total rainfall expected during the next 72 hours has increased to 1.5” to 2”. It’s also worthy to note the period between 2pm Wednesday, into the evening and possibly overnight may very well see a wintry mix. The good news is during that time temperatures remain above freezing.
Also increasing are the projected tide levels. The Tide graph for Sewell’s Point shows flooding occurring during Tuesday’s 11:58am high tide. This high tide, combined with rainfall, should result in nuisance coastal flooding at all the typical places. The 11:33pm high tide Tuesday night will be a little more significant. This coastal flooding event is expected to approach the ‘moderate’ flood level. The following two high tides (11:58am and 12:16am respectively) are in the ‘minor’ flood stage and thus will result in coastal flooding as well.
Those living in low-lying areas should be encouraged to park on higher ground.
Not much change in the wind forecast; Tuesday and Wednesday will be rather breezy.
Thanks!
Jim
