Team –

Please see information below from my good friend, Skip Stiles, Executive Director of Wetlands Watch:

“Yes, another nor'easter this week - but this time with some rainfall to complicate things. Tide gauge map HERE - find one near you and click and you'll get a forecast.

For southern Hampton Roads - looks like minor flooding with the ~ Tuesday noon high tide. (This after the first low pressure brings rain to us on Monday night Tues Morning). Then the midnight Tues/Wed tide will go higher… Again high water noon on Wed.

So not too bad normally but we'll be getting more rain with the higher tides on Wed as a second low pressure passes by, so water may be up in some places more than [the] chart shows.

The smart folks at Wakefield NWS will have more detail as we get closer but for now....get your kids toys out of the yard, watch out for trash pickup day and avoid floating trash cans, park your cars somewhere safe when you turn in on Tues night, etc.”

I am providing some graphics which further validate Skip’s comments for your review / planning considerations:

The
Hourly Graph shows rainfall to begin Monday evening until around noon Tuesday, when it is also expected to get a little breezy (no damaging winds).  Decent chance for rain to resume early morning and throughout the day Wednesday.  Total rainfall forecasted over the next 72 hours is 1-1.5 inches.

The
Tide graph suggests the noon high Tide (during the rainfall) Tuesday to cause nuisance flooding at the usual spots, and the Tuesday night / midnight high tide to cause minor flooding.

Bottom line: things will get wet the next few days and we’ll see some flooding, but nothing to impact daily operations.

Thanks!

Jim
