Storm Water 

Infrastructure Development & Maintenance: Designing, constructing, and maintaining stormwater management infrastructure. This might include retention ponds, detention basins, green infrastructure (such as rain gardens or permeable pavement), and stormwater conveyance systems (pipes, ditches, etc.).

Regulation and Compliance: Enforcing stormwater regulations and permits for construction sites, industrial facilities, and municipal storm sewer systems (MS4s) to control and monitor stormwater discharges.

Flood Control Measures: Implementing measures to reduce the impact of stormwater on flooding through retention, detention, and other flood control methods.

Water Quality Improvement: Conducting programs to minimize pollutants carried by stormwater runoff. This includes educating the public on pollution prevention, implementing best management practices (BMPs), and using innovative techniques to improve water quality.

BMPS: Best Management Practices (BMP) are permanent facilities designed to collect stormwater runoff prior to releasing the water into a natural water way. A BMP is required by state law during development or redevelopment of residential, commercial and industrial properties to reduce pollution and control flooding associated with stormwater runoff from rooftops or pavement.

Erosion and Sediment Control: Implementing measures to prevent soil erosion and sedimentation caused by stormwater runoff, which can harm aquatic habitats.

Habitat Protection: Protecting and preserving natural habitats, such as fish and wildlife areas, by managing stormwater to prevent habitat destruction caused by excessive runoff.

Collaboration and Education: Collaborating with the community, local government, and other stakeholders to educate the public about stormwater management, promote conservation efforts, and encourage responsible stormwater practices.
