Visitors can now enter non-clinical spaces in the Norfolk Department of Public Health facilities without using a mask. Staff and visitors in clinic spaces must continue to use a mask.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has modified, and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has adopted, mask-wearing guidelines based on community levels of disease. You can find more details about the mask guidelines here. The City of Norfolk, like our neighboring health districts, is classified as a LOW community level per the CDC criteria. Accordingly, the Health Commissioner announced that staff and visitors in areas at low community levels are not required to use a mask in public health facilities. Staff and visitors in clinic and Women, Infant, Children (WIC) spaces however will continue to wear a mask when assisting visitors.
Anyone who would like to (feels more comfortable, has a health concern for themselves or a loved one) may continue to wear a mask in non-clinic spaces.
· Clinics, including WIC sites, will have visitor health screening protocols
· Masks are not required in non-clinic spaces such as offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and elevators
