Vaccination Status in Norfolk

The Virginia Department of Health’s Norfolk Health District will offer COVID-19 vaccine boosters for the [Pfizer-BioNTech] vaccine in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The booster vaccine can be obtained anytime after 6 months from the date of second Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Those eligible for the [Pfizer-BioNTech] booster dose include:

● people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,

● people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,

● people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks, and

● people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Community Vaccination Center at Military Circle Mall


Beginning Saturday, October 9, a state-run Community Vaccination Center (CVC) at the former Macy's Department Store located at Military Circle Mall (MCM), 880 N. Military Highway in Norfolk. Visit vase.vdh.virginia.gov and input "23502" into the zip code search bar to schedule an appointment at the Military Circle Mall community vaccination center. The former Macy's location will be offering vaccination appointments from 10am to 7:30pm, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Any Virginian 65 years and older, or those 18 and above who have underlying medical conditions or live or work in a high risk setting, and who received the second dose of their Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine 6 months or more ago are invited to make an appointment for a free booster vaccination with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, individuals who need to receive their first or second dose of any vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson), or those who are immunosuppressed and need a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine may also receive them at no cost at the Norfolk site.

FREE COVID-19 Testing at the MCM will continue to be held Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m.  Testing is available for ages 3 and up.  Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  No registration is needed. Just walk right in. PCR testing only. Rapid testing is not available.

Residents who received their first dose of vaccination at a Virginia Department of Health site, such as Military Circle Mall, can visit any location for their second dose that is providing the type of vaccine they received. A Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card showing proof of first vaccination must be provided.
