Responsibilities & Services

The Central Records Division, a component of the Administrative Services Bureau, serves as a repository for:

  • All Warrants Generated by or Entrusted to the Norfolk Police Department
  • Correspondence
  • Criminal Histories
  • Fingerprints
  • Incident and Accident Reports
  • Photographs

Liaison

Central Records serves as a liaison with the:

  • The Department of Criminal Justice Services
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • The Norfolk Emergency Operations Center
  • Others for information and data exchange
  • The Virginia State Police

Central Records is divided into ten separate units:

  • Booking Unit
  • Central Desk for the Police Operations Center
  • False Alarm
  • Funeral Escort Section
  • Identification Section
  • Property and Evidence Unit
  • Technology Support Unit
  • The Public Service Counter
  • Warrant Unit
