Join our Lifeguard Team today! We will train you to become an American Red Cross Lifeguard. We have summer or year-round positions. Apply today for a part-time or full-time position.
Pre-employment swimming skills include:
300-yard continuous swim using front crawl (9 minutes or less)
Three (3) minute tread (legs only)
20X20 yard brick retrieval/tow (1 minute 20 seconds or less)
Lifeguard skills include - entries, surface dives, stand exit, scanning, and whistle communication.
Full-time Lifeguard candidates must meet American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor stroke requirements.
The City of Norfolk’s aquatics facilities are operating under adjusted hours. Beginning Nov. 28, the following changes are in effect:
The Northside Indoor Swimming Pool will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.*
The Huntersville Community Center Pool will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.*
* No pool access between 1 and 2 p.m.
The Southside Aquatics Center is temporarily closed for necessary maintenance and safety repairs. Hours and dates of operation have been expanded at the Northside and Huntersville pools to re-accommodate classes or open swim availability needs of regular patrons.

Pools close daily 1:00PM-2:00PM for cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing.
In addition to Lap Swim times, one lap lane is open for lap swimming from open to close.
