CONSENT AGENDA

 

C-1                                 Letter from the City Manager requesting a joint public hearing be scheduled with the CITY PLANNING COMMISSION and NORFOLK REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY on the application of the City Planning Commission to amend the General Plan of Norfolk, 1992, to create the urban residential district and to change the zoning on property located 3rd Bay Street to 7th Bay Street.  

 

ACTION:   City Clerk authorized to advertise for a public hearing on March 24, 2009.

R-1                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance revoking the permission granted to La Galleria Ristorante, Inc., aka Ristorante La Galleria, Inc., to encroach into the right of way of College Place for the purpose of outdoor dining and the installation of awnings,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

ACTION:   The Ordinance as introduced was adopted, effective March 3, 2009.

R-3                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance accepting with appreciation the donation of $10,000 to the City from the Joshua P. and Elizabeth D. Darden Foundation and .appropriating and authorizing the use of the donation to support services and programs and to purchase additional reading and education materials related to the Family Place Initiative at the Norfolk Public Library,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

R-4                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to revoke the permission to encroach granted to Baymark Shores Condominium Association by Ordinance Number 39,998 and to grant permission to Baymark Shores Condominium Association to encroach into the right of way at 3716-3720 Pretty Lake Avenue with a new pier and dock,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

R-5                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance approving a grant application in the amount of $133,615.00 to support the continuation of the Violence Against Women V-Stop Program and appropriating and authorizing the expenditure of the grant funds in the amount of $41,126.00 and $49,025.00 in a local cash match amount for the program and a $43,464.00 in-kind match,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

R-7                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to repeal subsection (25.5.5) of Section 25-650 regarding no left turn,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

NEW BUSINESS

 

1.        Virginia Harvey, 1028 Spotswood Avenue, spoke on the outstanding progress of the Norfolk Public Library.  

2.        Ellis James, 2021 Kenlake Place, commented on the need for police assistance for traffic conditions around City Hall.

3.     Danny Lee Ginn, 3844 Dare Circle, spoke on contracts between the City and City Council.
