Neighborhood Histories

Norfolk has invited its civic leagues to submit profiles of their neighborhoods, providing information on the types of houses, schools, and places of worship located within the league area, along with a general description and history of the neighborhood. Click below to access links of the PROFILES submitted to date:

  • Riverforest Shores, Wayside Manor, Easton Place

    • Bordered by the Elizabeth River, Newtown Road and Military Highway, this secluded neighborhood is divided into three sections that collectively feature single family residences, small businesses, four churches and the Easton Place Elementary School.

  • Sewells Gardens

    • This quiet residential area has Sycamore, Magnolia, and Pine trees lining the streets and yards with neatly trimmed lawns.

  • Barberton

    • Barberton was the center of Black business, entertainment, religion and education in the early days.

In addition to the above links, there is also neighborhood information in the Neighborhood Histories link.
