In order to maximize the experience of Independence Day festivities in downtown Norfolk this holiday weekend, the City of Norfolk recommends that the public arrive early to park in one of the more than 18,000 metered and garage parking spaces conveniently located within walking distance to Town Point Park, Harbor Park or a NET bus route.
Beginning July 3, the special event rate of $5 will be in effect at all parking facilities, except the MacArthur Center garages, on Friday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and on Sunday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The special event rate for the MacArthur Center garages will be $2 on Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to Harborfest weekend (July 3-5), the Norfolk Tides anticipate a sellout crowd on Friday, July 3 with fireworks (game time 6:15). When the Harbor Park lots fill, over-flow traffic will be directed to several nearby parking lots.
The City of Norfolk recommends parking at the MacArthur Center garages because MacArthur Center is only a short walking distance to Harbor Park. Or, those going to the Tides game can catch the free NET shuttle bus directly in front of the mall for a ride to the park.
The NET shuttle bus and Paddlewheel Ferry routing schedules can be viewed at www.gohrt.com.
