Mayor's Message

Mayor Paul D. FraimWelcome to Norfolk on the Virginia Waterfront - we've spent years preparing for your visit (nearly 400 to be exact). You've come for a fun-filled time, so make sure you visit Norfolk's attractions and restaurants during your stay, and plan to attend our special celebrations throughout the city.

Norfolk's sparkling downtown waterfront is a place of parks, promenades, restaurants, shops and museums. Giant commercial vessels and naval ships are guided along by the city's famous "tugs", historic ferries whisk visitors between Norfolk and Portsmouth, and a fleet of boats - from a three-masted schooner to a sleek dinner yacht - wait to give visitors an upfront look at one of the world's largest naval base.

Also, be sure to visit the Navy base, state zoo, botanical garden, beaches, and other appealing attractions that are dotted throughout Norfolk. They are easily reached by taxi, car or tour bus, and close to restaurants, shopping centers and lodging.

The Honorable
Paul D. Fraim
Mayor, City of Norfolk

Enjoy our city, visit our neighborhoods and talk to our people. Then stroll our streets and through our shops, sail our waters, delight in our performing arts, and I think you'll see why Norfolk is a great place to live, learn, work and play. Come back soon.
